Who we are

Sajda provides prayer times, mosque information and live broadcasts to worshippers, and screens, websites and donation tools to mosques. For anything in this policy, contact [email protected].

What we collect, and why

Your location (optional). When you allow it, your device's location is sent with your request to our servers to find mosques and prayer times near you. It is used to answer that request; we do not build a history or profile of your movements. On the website, if you have not granted location, we may use a coarse city-level estimate provided by our network provider (Cloudflare), held in a cookie for a few minutes. You can always decline location and search by town instead.

Background location (Android, optional, off by default). If you turn on “Ask me when I arrive” in the app's tracking settings and grant “Allow all the time”, Android watches a single circle about 150 metres wide around the one masjid you chose, and wakes the app when you cross it near a congregational prayer time so it can offer to log the prayer right then. The app reads no coordinates, records no route, and sends no location to any server — the crossing is used once, in the moment, and then it is gone. Declining changes nothing else: prompts still arrive on the normal schedule and you can log by hand.

Prayer tracking (optional). If you opt in to tracking, your log records a date, which prayer, and whether it was at the masjid — nothing else. It is held on your device and against a random device identifier on our servers, never a name, email or account.

Your choices on your device. Your selected masjid, preferences and notification schedule are stored on your device. Prayer notifications are scheduled locally — not pushed from a server.

Mosque administrator accounts. Mosque staff who manage their mosque's times sign in with an email address and password. We use these only to operate the account.

Technical logs. Like almost every online service, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and request details) for security and to keep the service running.

What we never do

No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling or renting of data, no access to your contacts, photos, microphone or camera. Consumer features require no account, so there is no consumer sign-up data to lose.

Who processes data for us

Our servers are hosted on Railway and our traffic is carried by Cloudflare (which also provides the coarse city estimate mentioned above). If you listen to a live broadcast, the audio is streamed from our infrastructure or, for some mosques, an attributed third-party network shown on the player. Donations made on a mosque's Sajda terminal are processed by SumUp — card details go to SumUp directly and never touch Sajda's servers.

Keeping and deleting data

Everything stored on your device is removed by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. To delete server-side data — a prayer log tied to your device identifier, or a mosque administrator account — email [email protected] and we will remove it. Technical logs expire on a short rolling window.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to processing. Because Sajda holds so little, the honest answer to “what do you have on me” is usually: a device identifier and, if you opted in, its prayer log. Write to us and we will act on it.

Children

Sajda is a general-audience service. It requires no account, collects no age information, and shows no advertising.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. A change will never quietly expand what is collected — anything new will be opt-in, like everything above.
